Solid Explorer for Android

MJD

Updated to v2.8.34

  • File encryption
  • Fingerprint support

The file encryption feature behaves different for multiple and single files. Multiple files are moved into a folder with .sec extension. Their contents, as well as names, are encrypted using strong AES256 algorithm. This makes the files totally unreadable outside Solid Explorer. However, after providing the password, you can browse encrypted contents just like any regular directory. Photos, music and videos can be played as usual.
Single files have their names left intact, just a .sec extension gets appended.

If your device has a fingerprint sensor you can use it to open encrypted files without a need to provide the password. The same applies for cloud storages, which can now be accessed with the fingerprint as well.
You'll see a "Use fingerprint" checkbox wherever this is possible.
