Backup Restore Wizard for Kodi

MJD 0 Comments

The Backup Restore Wizard for Kodi is a program that allows you to backup your setup/build/add-ons/userdata etc to a USB Flash Drive. The add-on comes from TVADDONS.

Once you have done a backup to the USB Flash Drive you can then restore all the data stored to any other device you have Kodi on (well not a firestick as it doesn't have a USB port).

There are many build wizards that can do what this does below but if it is your own build and it's not in a wizard and you just want to add the setup to other devices you have then this will be a handy little tool.

How to Install Backup Restore Kodi:

  • Open Kodi
  • Select Settings (cog icon top left)
  • Select File Manager
  • Select Add Source
  • Select None
  • Type the following EXACTLY http://fusion.tvaddons.co and select OK
  • Highlight the box underneath that is marked enter a name for this media Source
  • Type fus then click OK
  • Go back to your home screen (click back until you can go no further)
  • Select Add-ons from the left hand menu
  • Select Browser (icon that looks like a box top left)
  • Select Install from zip file
  • Select fus
  • Select kodi-repos
  • Select english
  • Select repository.xbmchub-x.x.x.zip
  • Wait for Add-on enabled notification
  • Select Install from repository
  • Select TVADDONS.CO Add-on Repository
  • Select Program add-ons
  • Select Backup Restore Wizard
  • Select Install
  • Wait for Add-on enabled notification
  • The add-on is now installed
  • To use the add-on just open your Add-ons section, select Program add-ons and then select Backup Restore Wizard
  • When you first open the program it will say you have not set a storage path do you want to select one. Select Yes
  • Next select Zip Folder > Choose USB/SDCARD Destination
  • Select a location you can easily access like your Downloads folder (depending on what type of device you are using this will be found in External Storage > Downloads or Home Folder > Downloads (or something similar). Select OK when in the downloads folder
  • In the next screen you will have to select OK so the download location is stored
  • In the next screen select Backup
  • You will now be asked if you want a full backup or just certain items. I will select Full Backup for now
  • Once the backup has completed you can insert a USB Flash Drive or SDCard and move the backup.zip to whichever you have inserted.
  • To restore you will of course need to install the Backup Restore Wizard again but it is still quicker than having to reinstall everything you have already created. When you have set it up again just choose restore and restore from your USB Stick (usually found in external storage)
  • If you are not using the default skin (Estuary) then the build will not look the same but you will get a message saying do you want to switch skins and the build will look the way it should
