Satellite Eyes is an app for OS X that automatically changes your desktop wallpaper to a satellite view of where you are, right now. This isn't a new app, I just happened to find it today so many people will probably have seen it already.
It sits in your menu bar updating in the background. If you have it installed on a laptop then wherever you open it you will see a satellite view from directly overhead wherever you are.
There are various map styles available that include Stamen Design, MapBox, Thunderforest and Bing Maps which incorporate water colours, traffic views, aerial photography, landscape and terrain.
Once you have chosen a style you like you can also tweak that further with a range of image effects that include pixelate, desaturate, half tone, vibrant haze, Lichtenstein and The Hive.
Further tweaks allow you to set the zoom view to Street, Neighnourhood, City or Region
If you use dual monitors the map is stretched across both and is not just a mirror of one screen which is a really nice touch.
The latest version is available to download here.
You can read more about the app at Tom Taylor's website.
